Who is Oldenburg and Company?

The Oldenburg is me…Maryanne Oldenburg. The Company is my two best friends, who also happen to be my daughters…Kelly Paulson and Bambi Gulig.

Maryanne created and sold her first dolls in the late 60's. They were a masked faced type. She followed that by building or rebuilding 9 dollhouses, along with all the furniture and accessories. Believe it or not, the girls were really not that interested in them. Then came families for the houses and quite accidentally, her introduction to the doll world. In 1972 she created her first OOAKs in polymer clay, which she sold at UFDC Conventions and Conference around the country. In 1976 she turned to porcelain and began creating really small limited editions, never more then 6 of each.

In 1990 with the help of Kelly and Bambi, she/they took on the New York Toy Fair. They plunged full swing into porcelain production. Maryanne designed an average of 12 designs a year with limited editions of 30-50 dolls each. The girls quit their jobs and began working full time in their new business…"Oldenburg Originals", pouring, cleaning, firing, painting and costuming the dolls. Everyone worked from their own studio for 3-4 weeks and the 5th week they came together to assemble, wig, dress, package and do paperwork for the 3 to 4 dozen dolls they shipped out each month. We were blessed with three new grandchildren during those 12 years of production.

In the early 20's Maryanne went back to her first love on OOAKs, and the girls retired, sort of. They hit the road with her and mingled with the doll world while they were on "vacation"!

In 2006, again with the help and blessing of the girls, Maryanne's dream of creating a series of dolls in vinyl came into being and Oldenburg & Co. and the "Playmates of Willow's Way" were born.

Maryanne is the President and "Director of Creative Design"…meaning she designs and creates the doll proto-types. She also designs most of the clothes, patterns and any needed accessories and works directly with the manufactures. Bambi is Vice President and CFO. She handles all finances and anything that goes with that job. Bambi also holds down a full time job. Kelly is Vice President and COO. She is responsible for our web pages, taking all orders as well as packing and shipping of all merchandise. In between she does some designing and most all of the sewing of our limited edition outfits. Kelly also does most of the work on our convention souvenir doll, from all of the sewing, assembling, even the packing. Oh, I might also add….she's pretty much the boss and keeps everyone on their toes!
